Mr. Uma Maheswar Reddy Gavireddygari

Born on 15 July 1968 in Chalivendala, Hindupur, Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Uma Maheswar Reddy was introduced to manufacturing through the family's ceramic factory in the 1980s. This hands-on exposure to machinery led him to pursue a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and an M.E. in Tool Design from the Central Institute of Tool Design (CITD).

Entering the family business in 1991, he focused on manufacturing specialized granite-cutting machinery, notably the Tadipatri slab-cutting machines. Alongside his elder brother, he pioneered the introduction of water-polishing machinery for granite processing in India — a landmark technological breakthrough for the domestic industry, and the engineering foundation for later international expansion.

In 2006, Mr. Uma Maheswar Reddy entered the African market, launching mineral-water manufacturing facilities in Uganda. By 2007, he established HEMA Beverages, subsequently expanding operations to Malawi, Zambia, Ivory Coast, Angola and Zimbabwe. The Group developed an approximately 50-acre industrial estate in Kampala, Uganda, supported by modern packaging infrastructure and a strong emphasis on operational safety.

Today the beverage business manufactures and distributes more than 2 million packs monthly across Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2024, the brand diversified into fresh juice manufacturing, solidifying its leadership in the East African food and beverage market.

Launching in Malawi in 2013, commercial poultry operations scaled from 100,000 to over 300,000 eggs per day. This framework was replicated in Zambia (100,000 eggs/day) and expanded into Zimbabwe.

In 2017, the Zimbabwe division diversified into corn flour, wine and kombucha — investing in high-volume staple consumer goods, generating significant local employment and strengthening regional supply chains and domestic food security.

Mr. Uma Maheswar Reddy has established a significant presence in India's real estate sector over the past decade, with expertise across residential layout development, strategic land consolidation and premium community development.

Marking a strategic expansion into the green economy, Mr. Uma Maheswar Reddy established Amber Enterprises, an Authorized Vehicle Scrapping Facility (AVSF) located in Chandapur, Siddipet District, Telangana, with a 5.5-acre operational facility and an expansive 25-acre vehicle storage yard.

The facility supports systematic, environmentally responsible collection, dismantling, depollution and structured recycling of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs), leading the transition towards a formalized circular economy in India.

Ventures across Africa create employment and strengthen local economies, while philanthropic efforts in India focus on supporting the development of the hometown and surrounding regions in Andhra Pradesh.
